All about BHCC...

The Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce represents the local business community. 

The Chamber is the voice of business in the area. It welcomes all sizes of businesses, be they start-ups or established, small or large, from any sector or from other
business groups. In fact the Chamber's strength comes largely from the diversity of its membership.

What does BHCC do?

The Chamber has two main functions. Firstly, it voices the needs and interests of the local businesses community, and feeds these into the City's strategy developments.  The Chamber is represented on all the key local partnerships and initiatives, including the Economic and Learning Partnerships and the City Centre Business Forum. It represents the local business community as a whole, rather than focussing on specific segments, sectors or special-interest groups.

Secondly, the Chamber provides members with opportunities to meet, learn from, and network with a diverse range of business people. Monthly events alternate
between 'Business Skills Training' and 'Business Issues Debate'. Past events have included seminars on Creativity, Marketing and E-Commerce, and discussions of
Business Legislation, Local Building Programmes and Regional Transport.

Chamber events enjoy a high reputation in the City for quality networking and provide an excellent way to keep in touch with the local business community.

What makes BHCC different?

Brighton & Hove has a wide range of business groups and associations that represent various retail areas and business sectors, as well as different sizes of firms. The City also has a large number of more informal groups and networking organizations. These diverse groups are one of the City's strengths. However, this diversity can also result in a lack of focus at the strategic level.

What the Chamber brings is a sense of cohesiveness. It promotes a more collegiate approach to business representation, where companies of different sizes, sectors
and business models come together to share information and knowledge across these boundaries.
